I am interested in understanding how the chemical evolution of Earth systems influences plate tectonics. My research focuses on how reaction energetics affect temperature, how volume changes generate stress, and how stress is recorded in the chemistry of minerals. Together, these areas enable us to (1) understand the coupling between the physical and chemical evolution of Earth systems across scales, from mineral grains to tectonic plates, and (2) accurately interpret the tectonic information preserved in mineral chemistry. This integrated approach advances a more holistic understanding of plate tectonics.
