My research investigates how chemical and physical processes interact to shape the evolution and dynamics of Earth's tectonic plates. I focus on how reaction energetics influence temperature, how reaction-induced volume changes generate stress, and how stress is recorded in mineral chemistry. Together, these themes reveal the coupling between the chemical and physical evolution of Earth systems across scales, from mineral grains to tectonic plates, while improving our ability to interpret the tectonic information preserved in metamorphic rocks. By integrating petrology, thermodynamics, and geodynamics, my research aims to develop a more holistic understanding of plate tectonics and its role in the evolution of Earth systems.
