My current research focuses on how terrestrial volcanic analogues can be used to improve our understanding of volcanism on Venus. In particular, I am investigating whether Erta Ale in Ethiopia provides an appropriate analogue for Derceto Corona on Venus. Alongside this work, I am developing automated mapping approaches for identifying and characterising lava flows in SAR imagery from both Venus and Earth. This research is funded by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).
Previously, I worked on the ongoing eruptions of the Svartsengi Volcanic System in Iceland. Using continuous webcam footage, I investigated the first six eruptions between December 2023 and September 2024, with a particular focus on lava fountaining dynamics and fissure development.
