I joined the department as Outreach and Communications Manager in October 2023. My role involves the coordination of the department’s outreach, alumni, events and communications strategies. As part of this, I lead our access and outreach initiatives, including our EarthbOX scheme, open days, summer schools and school visits. I also work with researchers in the department on various public engagement activities. My work with alumni includes organising alumni events and communications. In addition to this, I coordinate departmental communications, social media presences, news and the departmental website.
Before starting this role, I was a PhD student at the University of Glasgow, studying the East Asian Monsoon in Japan. During my time in Glasgow I was the PGR Office Events and Communications Intern and Web Communications Coordinator. I also hold a masters degree from the University of Sheffield in Polar and Alpine Change, and a bachelors degree from Durham University in Chemistry and Earth Sciences.
