Barry Parsons awarded 2017 Augustus Love Medal by EGU

Professor Barry Parsons has been awarded the 2017 Augustus Love Medal by EGU. The medal recognises “distinguished scientist in the field of geodynamics, comprising mantle and core convection, tectonophysics, post-glacial rebound and earth rotation.”

Barry joins a distinguished list of past recipients, which includes Profesor Philip England, who received the award in 2010.

The medal is named after a past Oxford Sedleian Professor of Natural Philosophy, whose name has been made famous by his discovery of Love Numbers and Love Waves.  The Chair is still in place in the Mathematical Institute, with its present incumbent, Professor Sir John Ball.
