My current research is on the tectonics of the Oman-UAE ophiolite. Ophiolites, of which the Oman-UAE is the largest on Earth, are slices of oceanic lithosphere that have been thrust onto continental crust. Specifically, I am interested in the metamorphic sole to the ophiolite, which is a thin highly condensed package of metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks immediately beneath the ophiolite.  I am integrating geological mapping with petrology,  phase equilibria modelling, and microstructural (EBSD) analyses in order to constrain the evolution of the sole and lowermost mantle.
