I am primarily interested in the interpretation of the petrologic record for determination of pre-eruptive processes. My research encompasses different aspects of volcanology, petrology, mineralogy and geochemistry with an aim to better understand the processes occurring within sub-volcanic systems.
My current work involves analysis of hydrous minerals and volcanic glass to determine the volatile evolution and pre-eruptive volatile contents of volcanic systems. This work has important implications for our understanding of the controls on eruption style and the triggers of large, explosive eruptions.
