My research is concerned with the development of highly efficient computational methods and software for Earth science applications, including (but not limited to) the following domains: short and long term tectonics, dynamics of lithosphere, regional scale seismology.

Research software projects

  • two-phase, multi-component software for studying subduction zones (SubFUSc)
  • massively parallel HPC software for the studying the dynamics of the lithosphere (pTatin)
  • high-order spectral element methods on unstructured triangle / tetrahedral meshes for wave propagation (SpecTet)

Computational research topics

  • efficient non-linear solvers for visco-elasto-plastic material
  • optimal and scalable preconditioners for high-order finite element discretisations
  • exploiting hybrid parallelism within multigrid preconditioners
