My research interests are focused on the geochemistry and sedimentology of mudrocks (i.e., clay-rich rocks). Despite the macroscopic homogeneity of these sequences, they contain extensive information at the microscopic scale, both geochemically and physically, which can be used to interpret variations at the site of deposition resulting from perturbations locally, regionally, and globally.

My current research focuses on the geochemical and sedimentological study of Early Cretaceous non-marine-deposited mudrock sequences. The primary objectives of this research include the following:

i) attempt to understand how Milankovitch scale orbital forcings have affected paleoclimate and subsequently deposition of these mudrocks;

ii) explore clues contained in these sequences to possible causes of oceanic anoxic events (OAEs);

iii) evaluate the prospectivity of non-marine mudrock sequences as unconventional oil and gas reservoirs.
