I’m part of DEEP TIME project, which aims to generate a quantitative, global geography of the world’s former oceans and their plate boundaries.
I’m working on seismic tomography of mantle structures under the Western Hemisphere. With the use of a dense data coverage and multi-frequency method, I hope to make higher resolution images and address some questions on tectonics of the region, especially on Caribbean and South American tectonic history.
As part of my project I’ve also been focusing on new regularisation techniques to constrain the ill-posed inverse problem we solve in tomography. The objective is to see how effectively we could realise transition from the cold/hot anomalies to the ambient mantle in a tomographic image.
