Palaeomagnetism is a discipline that has pervasive applicability to geological and environmental problems. The research in the Palaeomagnetism and Rock Magnetism Group at the University of Oxford addresses a broad spectrum of the Earth Sciences.  We work in particularly close collaboration with researchers in tectonics and structural geology, sedimentology and stratigraphy, volcanology, archaeology, geodynamics, and isotope geochemistry.
The group currently comprises 5 Faculty, 1 Research Officer, 1 Post-doc and 4 Post Graduate Students, as well as various short-stay visitors. The Group is led by Buffy McClelland of the Department of Earth Sciences and Jim Briden of the Environmental Change Unit.  Some of our current research projects are briefly outlined here.
