Away from work
Aside from earthquakes, my main area of interest is football. I'm the
men's president of the Oxford
University Association Football Club for 2007/08. In addition to
playing for the university, I also play (ocassionally) for Research Machines
F.C. in Division 2 of the Upper
Thames Valley Sunday League. Every now and again I also turn out
for either the JCR or MCR teams of Worcester College. In addition to
all this playing, I'm in the process of working my way through the
coaching badges with the intention of becoming a half-way decent
goalkeeper coach. As part of that, I'm currently working with Oxford United Ladies,
doing some coaching of their goalkeepers. When I'm not playing or
coaching, watching football is another love of mine - I'm a
Manchester City supporter, and have followed them through thin and
thinner. Although I don't find as much time to venture back North as
I once used to and hence no longer have a season ticket, I still
manage to watch a handful of games each season. Between the football
seasons I always try my hand at a spot of cricket, however, its a
sport that I've never really been very good at and I don't put in
enough time practicing to get beyond the "this is incredibly
frustrating, there's no way I should be getting out to a bowler like
that" stage.
