S.E.F.
S.E.F. is the (unofficial) departmental magazine produced to have a pop at
anyone and everyone in the department. It's been going for years and has a new
editor (
Ben Fox
) with myself assisting. Ben's even set up
SEF online
with a couple of tasters of the articles in issue 17.
Issue 17 went on sale on Friday of 0th week of Hilary term
(16th January) and was received well, with no lawsuits for libel ensuing. All
100 copies have now been sold, and the department kindly waved the printing
costs meaning Ben was able to donate the full £100 to the Bam earthquake
disaster fund. Thanks to everyone who bought a copy.
The success of issue 17 spurred us on to produce
issue 18,
which went
on sale on Friday of 4th week of Trinity term - again selling out in
double quick time. Again, many thanks to those of you who invested in
a copy, the procedes will be going to the Red Cross Disaster fund.
There should be a bit of a gap before issue 19 hits the shelves, we're
planning on getting something together around Christmas time for release
in the New Year once a new set of first year undergraduates have arrived.
Although Oxford University's Earth Sciences Department hosts this web-site,
neither organisation exerts any editorial control over its content. Thus any
views expressed or statements made on these pages can in no way be taken to
represent any entity other than the author.
